What's Up Wednesday

It's the last Wednesday of MARCH and today I am linking up to bring you what we've been up to lately!

Every month we answer these questions plus one bonus question (this month it's about spring cleaning):

What We're Eating This Week
Sunday was EASTER!  It's crazy how early it was this year!  We hosted brunch and I made my Overnight French Toast Casserole and my Sausage Egg and Cheese Casserole

And It's Grilling Season!!!!!
So we will be eating a ton of burgers and grilled chicken salad!

What I'm Reminiscing About
Since we just celebrated Easter, I have been reminiscing about all of the past Easters with the girls!

What I'm Loving
I am loving that Paisley's hair is long enough to put into ponytails and pigtails!  It was always one of my FAVORITE things about when each girl reached this age!

What We've Been Up To
This week is spring break!  John has had time off so we've been doing a lot of family things - like checking out a brand new local play space.

And going on a few dates!  We've kept up with our New Years Resolution of two dates each month!

What I'm Dreading
The only bad thing about spring is John's overtime kicks into high gear with all of the spring sports...

What I'm Working On
I'm working on getting ready to register Blakely for PRESCHOOL!
I'm also working on signing Lacie up for a few camps this summer (and maybe one for B)!

What I'm Excited About
April Showers Bring May Flowers.....
For real, SPRING AND SUMMER cannot get here fast enough!

What I'm Watching/Reading
Well I must admit, I did not read anything in March...but that is because there has been so much good TV to watch!

John and I are watching The Voice!  This is my first time watching it and I absolutely love it!  There is a ton of amazing talent (see what I'm listening to)!

We are also watching The People v. O.J. Simpson!  I am finding it fascinating.  I was super young when this happened (8/9 years old) so all I remember was them interrupting TGIF for breaking coverage of the bronco chase.

Dancing with the Stars is back!  This is always a favorite!  Even the girls get into watching it on the DVR the next day!

What I'm Listening To
Alisan Porter!  I am super blessed to be part of a very special online Mommy Community with Alisan, and she is currently killing it on the Voice!  You can get her songs from The Voice on iTunes as well two albums that she recorded previously!

What I'm Wearing
I'm getting out the spring/summer clothes for me and the girls (and putting away the winter clothes)!  This makes me so happy!
You can find me wearing my Reefs!
And my girls wearing their Natives!

What I'm Doing This Weekend
Lacie and Blakely both have dance pictures on Sunday!  I cannot wait to have both of them take a picture in their adorable recital costumes!  Let's reminisce about Lacie's first ever dance picture last year!

What I'm Looking Forward to Next Month
Relaxing!  There aren't any holidays or birthdays in April - so we are going to enjoy a lot of simple family time!  May and June are busy months for us!

What Else Is New
Nothing Much!

What Is My Best Spring Cleaning Tip
LEMON OIL!  We use Young Living Essential Oils for anything and everything in the Hilosky House!  Cleaning is no exception.  This little bottle of lemon oil gets rid of anything sticky and most recently cleaned our entire oven!  And the bonus is it smells great too - just like spring!

Lemon Blossoms

For Easter Sunday, I set out to make two new dessert recipes that would be perfect for spring/summer!

The first one I made was Lemon Blossoms (which is a fun take on the traditional peanut blossom cookie recipe that we do not eat because of Lacie's allergy).

And I simplified them by using CAKE MIX!

These cookies are Cake Mix Recipe #61!

Your Shopping List for the Lemon Blossoms:
  • 1 box Lemon Cake Mix
  • 1 stick butter, softened to room temp
  • 2 eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • yellow sanding sugar
  • 24 unwrapped Hershey's Dark Chocolate Kisses

Now Let's Make the Lemon Blossoms:
  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees and line two cookie sheet pans with parchment paper
  2. In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, beat together the softened butter, beaten eggs, cake mix, and baking powder until a soft dough forms
  3. Use a 1 inch cookie scoop to form 24 balls of dough and roll them in the sanding sugar
  4. Place each cookie dough ball onto the prepared baking sheet
  5. Bake in preheated oven for 9-11 minutes until just lightly golden on the bottom
  6. Remove cookies from oven and immediately press a Hershey's Kiss into the center of each cookie
  7. Cool for 2 minutes on pan and then move to wire racks to cool completely
  8. Make sure the Hershey's Kiss is completely cooled and set before storing cookies in an airtight container

I use this stand mixer for all of my baking:

I use (and LOVE) these cookie sheets:
I use this parchment paper (and it makes clean up so easy):

Mommy Mondays: Easter

Yesterday was Easter Sunday!  We had such a special holiday!  They get better the older the girls get!
Since it's a Mommy Monday, I thought I would share what we did for Easter Weekend!

We started the weekend by heading to the mall on Friday to see the bunny!  Paisley was not super thrilled to be sitting on his lap....but the picture is still cute anyway!

The Easter Bunny stopped by our house to bring lots of treats for the girls!  I really try to limit the candy treats and instead get them stuff like new art supplies and spring/summer clothes!

Lacie and Blakely ran down the stairs to see their baskets!

My Sweet B was so excited that the Easter Bunny put yellow chalk in her baskets #itsthelittlethings

After opening baskets, I tried to get a few pictures of the girls together!

The two big sisters!

After opening everything, I got Easter brunch ready for both families!

We ate and then had our traditional Easter Egg Hunt!

It was Paisley's second Easter but her first Easter being able to participate in the hunt!

Clearly it made her tired!

My parents!

 John's Parents!

Santa got the girls these bikes....but the Easter Bunny finally put them together!

Paisley was a little jealous of the big girls on their bikes, so Uncle Matt improvised!

Happy Easter 2016!
