Mommy Mondays: Doing Something for ME!

Happy Monday!  Normally all of my Mommy Mondays post feature my sweet girls!  However, today I thought I would talk a bit about doing something for ME!  When you're a mommy, your own needs tend to get pushed way to the back burner - especially when you have a newborn at home!  They depend on you for everything!  But a healthy and a happy Mommy means healthy and happy kiddos! So I decided to revisit my New Years Resolutions and really get working on #1 - and that is losing the baby weight!

Enter this wonderful program in my life:

First Let Me Talk to You About Shakeology:
This was the GAMECHANGER for me!  After being stuck at the same post Paisley weight loss (in case y'all forgot I gained 50 pounds with her...yes you read that correct), drinking Shakeology for 7 days straight gave me a FIVE POUND weight loss.  I didn't change a thing except replacing a typical breakfast with Shakeology!  I lost five pounds in one week and I had so much more energy!  Plus, if you are a Mama you know that sometimes you only have one hand to eat a meal with!  You can drink Shakeology while having a baby on your hip and helping your older two children get their breakfast!

Now Let Me Talk to You About 21 Day Fix:
I am in love with these workouts!  They are 30 minutes, so you can't really make an excuse not to do them - everyone can find 30 minutes in their day!  I try to do it first thing in the morning before my older two girls are awake and right after I've nursed the baby so she is content to hang out in her bouncy seat and watch me!  There is also a really nice variety with these workouts - weights, cardio, yoga!  I love it!!!  Plus, I do not have to wait for someone to watch the girls so that I can head to the gym.  I can do this in the comfort of my living room anytime!  In addition to the awesome workouts, there is a wonderful nutrition piece that comes in your 21 Day Fix Package.  You get the cute color coded portion control containers (shown in my first picture) and an entire book full of recipes and clean eating ideas!  It's a really complete program!

I am such a believer in Beachbody - especially Shakeology - that I have decided to become a coach and help others to find the success and happiness that comes with being a healthier version of you!  Whether you have weight to lose or just want to feel healthier and have more energy - I can help!

Friday Favorites: Thinking Spring

Well the first day of Spring was last Friday, and we got snow in New Jersey.  And to be honest the weather this week hasn't really felt spring-like except for yesterday when it was a bit warmer and rainy all day.  But I'm looking forward to sunshine and breezy, warm temperatures!  I know spring is coming and it is going to feel amazing after this winter!

And Easter is early this year - next weekend!

So lets talk about some Friday Favorites that are Easter and Spring related!

1. Cadbury Mini Eggs
These little babies are my very very very favorite candy in the whole wide world!  Maybe I like them so much because I can only find them at Christmas and Easter!  They are just the BEST!  Now while it's perfectly acceptable and yummy to eat them straight from the bag, I like to bake with them too!  So here are two perfect recipes for your family to enjoy this Spring!  Get those Cadbury Mini Eggs while you can!

Simple shortbread cookies that are sweet and festive!

If you're looking for a simple, 4 ingredient cake mix recipe...This Is It!

2. Getting Outside For Walks
I feel like we have been inside for months (seriously since Paisley was born we have hardly left the house).  The weather was terrible and add a brand new baby to that mix and we have been inside watching more TV than I care to admit.  Now that Spring is here, we will be getting out to the park for nice long walks!  We bought a new Double BOB jog stroller for the big girls (and it's amazing).  Paisley will ride in the Phil and Teds Jogger that we have had since Lacie was born!  I just couldn't bring myself to get a triple stroller!

3. Frozen Crocs
Last year the girls had Princess Sofia Crocs that they wore all spring and summer!  For real like every.single.day!

While I don't always love character clothing, these crocs were the best!  Lacie and Blakely loved wearing them and I loved that they could put them on all by themselves!  This year I was looking into getting them new pairs of Crocs and I found FROZEN ones!  They will be perfect for Spring/Summer 2015 - but first I need to get their feet measured!

4. Easter Baskets
For Lacie's First Easter, I wanted to get her an Easter Basket that would last throughout her childhood.  So I splurged and got the large white basket with a personalized liner from Pottery Barn Kids.  Then we got Blakely hers, and now Paisley has one for her first Easter!  I can't say enough about how sweet these Easter baskets are.  Plus they are HUGE!  Perfect for fun gifts and not just candy! Pottery Barn Kids has all their baskets on sale now and you can get them in time for Easter if you order today!

Here's a picture of their Easter Baskets from Easter 2013!  I will get one of all three this year!

Mommy Mondays: More Milk Breakfast Bars

A few weeks ago, I shared my experience with breastfeeding Paisley!  At 3.5 months, we are still exclusively breastfeeding, which is a huge personal accomplishment for me.  This hasn't been the easiest journey!  I know that we will make it to the four month mark, and I am really hopeful that we can make it to six months!  I don't have the best milk supply, so I made some More Milk Cookies (also known as lactation cookies) to help with that.  But I wanted a healthier alternative - one that I could eat for breakfast (and not feel guilty about)!  So I came up with these delicious breakfast bars!

Your Shopping List for More Milk Breakfast Bars:
  • 2 tbsp milled flax seed
  • 4 tbsp water
  • 1 stick butter, room temperature
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour (I use King Arthur brand white whole wheat flour)
  • 1,2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3 tbsp brewers yeast powder
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 2 cups old fashioned rolled oats
  • 1 cup dried cranberries
  • 1 cup white chocolate chips

Now Let's Make the More Milk Breakfast Bars:
  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees and grease a 9x13 pan with butter or nonstick spray
  2. In a small bowl, combine the milled flax seed and water - set aside
  3. In the bowl of a stand mixer, fitted with the paddle attachment, beat together the butter and both sugars until light and fluffy
  4. Beat in the egg and vanilla
  5. Beat in the flax seed mixture
  6. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, brewers yeast, and cinnamon
  7. Add dry ingredients into the wet ingredients, beating on low speed until combined
  8. Beat in the oats on lowest speed until combined
  9. Beat in the dried cranberries and white chocolate chips until just distributed evenly throughout the dough
  10. Press dough into prepared pan and bake in your preheated oven for 25 - 30 minutes until edges are lightly browned and the center is set
  11. Allow pan to cool completely (at least an hour) before cutting into 24 squares
  12. Store in an airtight container

In addition to making and eating these delicious More Milk Breakfast Bars, I am also taking a wonderful supplement called Lactation Boost from The Honest Company!  The combination of these two things have boosted my milk supply and allowed me to build a great freezer stash!

You can order the Lactation Boost on its own or you can add Lactation Boost to a Health and Wellness Bundle from The Honest Company with another vitamin (like their PreNatal Vitamin) to save money!  !

Mommy Mondays: Paisley Jean is 3 Months!

I cannot even believe that I am writing this post, because it's so hard for me to wrap my head around the fact that Paisley is already three months old!  To say that these first three months flew by is an understatement!  It definitely goes faster with each baby - probably because I am so busy taking care of my older girls too!

I cannot get enough of her smile!

At three months old Paisley:
*talks (or coos and babbles but I know she is talking)
*smiles and laughs
*recognizes voices and faces
*sleeps through the night
*lifts her head when on her tummy
*is wearing size 3-6 month clothes
*is wearing size 2 diapers (they are still a bit too big - but the size 1's were too small)

Paisley Loves:
*her blabla Rose
*her pacifier
*baths
*when anyone sings to her
*watching her sisters eat

Paisley Hates:
*Tummy Time
*getting out of the bathtub
*when you hold her facing in - she wants to face out and see what's going on

No weight and height stats for Three Months because Paisley doesn't have another well visit until four months.  She did, however, have to go to the doctor last week to get the rest of her two month vaccinations.

Friday Favorites: St. Paddy's Day

Happy Happy Friday!  It's been awhile since I did a Friday Favorites Post, and I need to get back to it because this has become one of my very favorite posts (and I love all the feedback I get from my readers!).

Next week is St. Paddy's Day!  I love this holiday because it is fun and because it really signals the start of Spring!

1. My Irish Soda Bread
I don't think that I am the world's best cook or recipe creator by any stretch - but my Irish Soda Bread is hands down the best I have every tried!  It's sweet, has a great crust, and is not dry at all.  In fact you can eat it without butter.  If you think you don't like Irish Soda Bread, you need to try this recipe!  And if you love Irish Soda Bread, you should make this version ASAP!  Bonus - it makes two loaves!   I made it yesterday...we're down to only a half of a loaf!

Can you tell that she likes it?!?

2. St. Paddy's Day Outfits
Every year, I get a cute little St. Paddy's Day shirt for my girls to wear!  Something festive and fun, that they can wear after the holiday too! This year I got sweet little t-shirts that say "Irish Sweetie" on them.  They have already sold out, but here are some other fun options:
Even though we love PINK in our house, it's fun to dress in green for St. Paddy's!

3. St. Paddy's Day Lucky Charm Treats
Last year I made these perfect no bake Lucky Charms Treats.  They are basically Rice Krispy Treats but you use Lucky Charms cereal instead.  They are so simple - even the kids can help!

On my Not Friday Favorite List is the fact that I am headed to the pediatrician with Sweet Little Paisley Jean for two shots!  UGH!
